Wandering Tail the app -Frequently Asked Questions

Can I remotely tag a new location?
No. The app sets coordinates for your location automatically in to your current coordinates and you can't "remotely" tag locations.

Why not?
The app is ment for you to go out with your dog and explore the world. So "remote tagging of locations is in a conflict with the apps original purpose.

I accidentally tagged a location in to a wrong place? Can I remove it?
No, but the editor to make the removal or editing location is coming soon. Before that, the only way to remove location is to notify us. You can do it by "feedback" in the app, in our facebook page or by e-mail support@wanderingtail.com

Is there a cost?
No. The app is free to download and free to use.

Quick fix for rare crash issue.
We have been reported that there is sometimes a crash in application using upgraded Android operating system.
We're working on a solution, but there is a quick fix which can be done by opening phones application manager and finding Wandering Tail from there. Under permissions, some of the previously given permissions might be turned off (usually storage). Fix is done by switching both permissions on, and clearing the applications data. It can be found under storage.

What's the scoring system for?
The scoring system has been designed for multiple reasons. Many of these are features yet to come, but at first it informs you about users activity.
 Does the application have ads?
Yes, but not in any way that makes your user experience worse. There are no banner ads and there are no pop up ads. They are annoying.
It has it's own in-app system to deliver you personal coupons, offers and segmented commercials from our company partners. This will be introduced later.

How is my location tracked?
The application sends your coordinates a couple of times per hour. They are compared to our location data and if you are in a previously marked location, the application shows you there. Otherwise your location information is discarded. You can update your location manually by clicking the "cross hair" button on the map screen. Your location is not saved if you are outside of marked areas. It means that you are not tracked at home, even if the app is active. When you are logged out of the app no location data is sent.

What is a yellow ribbon? How can I change it?
"Yellow ribbon" is an indication that a dog might need some space for itself or be approached with some caution. It provides information about your dog that you want to tell to other dog owners and their dogs before they even meet you (e.g. your dog is in heat). The "Yellow ribbon" symbol is presented in dogs profile card. You can manage your dogs "yellow ribbons" from your own dog profile screen. Reasons for "yellow ribbons" can be found under the "traits" menu.

The app doesn't recognize me and my dog in the spot we are in. How do I upload my coordinates?
The app will automatically upload your coordinates after some time. You can manually initiate the process by pressing the "cross hair" button on the map screen.

I am home, but the app still shows us in a location we were.
You'll be removed from the user list after a certain time cycle. For dog park users the time may seem a bit long, but there are a lot of different kind of spots to go out, so we needed a compromise for the time gap.

How do I create a location?
By pressing the "plus" button in the map screen. It opens the "create location" screen.

What do I write to the location description? Are there any rules for creating a location?
There are no special rules. Location information is as good as you make it. You can find examples from the map. Usually more information is better than less. English or language of the country you are in (or both) should used for creating a location.

Can I change location info I entered afterwards?
No, that is not possible, at least for now. You'll have to report "broken spot" for us to fix it.
support@wanderingtail.com

Is the app complete?
No, it never is, we'll update it constantly. New features are already under development.

When can I see dog related companies on the map?
Soon. We'll keep you informed about the progress in our facebook page.
